The Trianel Windpark Borkum II (TWB II) offshore wind farm is now fully commissioned.
As of 30 June 30, all 32 Senvion 6.33 MW turbines have been spinning and the project was thus completed exactly two years after the start of construction.
The inauguration of the 200 MW offshore wind farm, located some 45 kilometres off the northern coast of the island of Borkum, is planned for spring / summer 2021.
Jan De Nul completed the wind turbine installation in June.
The jack-up Taillevent started the turbine installation works in the summer of 2019, but had to leave mid-February 2020 to undertake commitments in Taiwan. The installation of the remaining eleven turbines was completed with Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s vessel Blue Tern.
Jan De Nul and its subcontractor Global Wind Service subsequently finalized the mechanical completion of the wind turbines to have them ready for commissioning.
Senvion awarded Jan De Nul with the turbine installation contract in December 2017, after which the start of the installation was delayed due to Senvion’s insolvency proceedings.
EWE AG has a 37.5 per cent stake in TWB II, a joint venture between the City of Zurich’s electricity company and Fontavis AG with 24.51 per cent, and the Trianel municipal utility cooperation, together with 17 German municipal utilities, holds 37.99 per cent .
