Andrew Diplock has a successful career track record working across various technical, project management, commercial and leadership roles in corporates and start-up companies.

A qualified chartered electrical engineer, Diplock has over 25 years of experience in the energy and utilities sector including a successful exit in 2015 as co-founder of an energy consultancy business.

Diplock has played an active part in the last five years investing in start-up companies in Wales and supporting their growth through a non-executive role and close mentorship of founders.

He is a lead investor with the Development Bank of Wales for their angel co-fund and has successfully led angel syndicates in multiple successful funding rounds.

In addition to a commitment for continuous improvement in governance and general expertise of the Board, Diplock’s appointment as non-executive director will support and advise MPS in the areas of business development, commercial structures, energy markets and investor relationships.

Commenting on his new position, Andrew Diplock said: “Having worked in the energy sector for 25 years, I have seen first-hand the technical advancements and commercial innovation needed to overcome the challenges towards a sustainable de-carbonised future.

“Marine energy is exciting and scalable and I very much look forward to working with the MPS team to help realise this Welsh company’s vision of being a world leader in wave and wind renewables. I am confident that my technical background, commercial and funding experience will be of benefit to the business.”

Graham Foster, Chairman of MPS, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the board of MPS. Andrew’s knowledge of the energy sector combined with his extensive experience of strategic management, commercialisation and financing will be invaluable to the company and its development in the years to come. The whole board is very much looking forward to working with Andrew to further our vision of harnessing the vast global resource of marine energy”.

MPS has developed a platform technology can be configured to deliver wave power only (WaveSub), wind power only (WindSub) or a combination of both wave and wind power (DualSub).

The progress of WaveSub, alongside DualSub and WindSub, illustrates the company’s long-term ambition to develop a range of marine renewable devices that can play a significant role in the UK’s shift to low-carbon energy generation.
